March President’s Page Hello Members! I’m so happy to announce our new meeting place will be Holiday Inn & Suites Green Bay Stadium 2785 Ramada Way in Ashwaubenon. We hope to call this place home for many years to come. Wow, what a great topic at February’s meeting by Jeff Shavlik with Finance Systems about how to make some monies off those old files we just have setting in our draws because we don’t have the time or expertise how to collect from past tenants who didn’t pay us. Even if you missed the meeting turn those files over to Finance Systems they may be able to collect something and something is better than nothing. So stop holding onto these files and turn them over to professionals. The quicker they get working on the more successful the collection can be. Try it and just wait until you receive your first check. I could of taken an all inclusive vacation on the amount of monies that was collected from one of my past tenant and believe me if I wouldn’t of turned it over to Finance Systems I would of received NOTHING! Next months meeting is going to be great. We will start the evening off with Tom Wiltzius with Hallman Lindsay Paints who will be sharing with us information on environmentally safe paint. Then we will have a panel of AANW Members who will share and discuss Non Standard Lease Addendums and Rules. AANW is planning a membership drive. AANW has a lot to offer to landlords and managers and we want to get the word out about our great organization. Tuesday, March 10th at one of our Associate Member’s Office Bay Title 345 S Monroe Green Bay, WI from 5:00 to 7:30 we will be hosting a membership drive. It will be a wine tasting and cheese party to talk about AANW and what we have to offer. Members if you have a friend that maybe interested in joining our organization or learning more about it have them attend the event. This event is only open to any member who brings a landlord or manager to the event who may be interested in joining AANW. Thank you to Jack May for hosting his beautiful office for our event. The other big event for March is Legislative Day which will be held Wednesday March 18th. This event is free to all members wanting to attend. Some hot topics that affect all of us: limitations proposed on C-Cap, draft of lead paint legislation, Tenant Protection Act in cases of Foreclosure, Federal Stimulus Package, and WI State Budget. Thank you to everyone who signed up on the Pro-Active Committee working with Leaders. I will be calling the first meeting soon if anyone else is interested in being on the committee please contact myself. This committee is formed of a group of members that we can discuss issues that our happening and will work with city officials to come up with ways to solve issues together. See you at the next meeting. Nancy Kay Behnke AANW President 2008/ 2009
