Medical Massage is the application of Physical Medicine by a Massage Therapist using specific tests to evaluate, target and treat specific problem areas. It must be “medically necessary” and prescribed by a Medical Doctor, Chiropractor or Osteopath.
How Medical Massage differs from Wellness Massage:
Requires prescription and referral.
Requires physician’s medical diagnosis and treatment plan.
Requires specific number of treatments.
Insurance-based reimbursement rather than cash-based.
Uses a specific technique to address a specific dysfunction or pathology.
Not routine based.
Requires a higher level of competency and understanding through education.
I have been trained in the evaluation and treatment of the Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar Spine.
