Afghan Hound Rescue of California is a volunteer organization dedicated to saving Afghan Hounds from homelessness and euthanasia.
As a result we have a steady flow of Afghan Hounds Available for Adoption to permanent loving homes.
Afghan Hound Rescue Of California is an independent rescue group. We operate under the approved guidelines of, and in cooperation with the Afghan Hound Club of America Rescue.

Simon's Foster Mom Writes:
Simon continues to improve daily; he has learned to tolerate the touching of his head, ears, mouth and neck. He is learning how to "Play Gently" with other dogs of all sizes AND he no longer grabs her arm when she places a collar around his head & neck.
After being placed on a proper healthy diet, Simon has gained 10 lbs. His ribs and back bone are no longer protruding and he has gained the muscle mass he lost due to malnutrition & lack of exercise. Grooming time is no longer painful for Simon.
It has been an amazing experience watching Simon grow into the beautiful fun loving Afghan Hound he was meant to be. When SImon first came to live with us, he did not trust humans and was fearful of the world. Today, I smile as I watch this amazing boy, happy and at peace in the comfort of a safe home.
Simon will do well with someone who understands that he is still in the learning process and who is dedicated to helping him conitnue to blossom. He is a big boy and requires alot of exercise.
