A two-month-old black feral kitten was burned alive inside a cage in Santa Rosa on the evening of June 19. The kitten, named Adam, is still being treated at a Cotati Veterinary Hospital for second and third-degree burns over 75% of his body.
Adam and five other kittens were to be neutered/spayed the following morning and were left unattended outside a care giver's apartment in three separate cages when the cages were stolen. The five other kittens have not been found and their fate is unknown.
Two teenage girls were identified as suspect in setting the caged kitten on fire and the case in the District Attorney Office for review.
Assistant District Attorney, Cynthia Cook is in charge of the case and there is concern that the two girls responsible for burning the kitten may not be charged.
