So CAl Rocket Assn - Santa Fe Dam - Irwindale, CA
Sunday, November 15, 2009

Sponsor:  Model Rocket launches co-sponsored by SCRA & the County of LA Parks and Recreation.  SCRA conducts controlled & supervised launches for the general public.YOU CAN ONLY LAUNCH IN THE PARK AS PART OF A CONTROLLED & SUPERVISED LAUNCH!!  Normal SCRA safety-check and launching procedures will be followed.  You must be familiar with the procedures and have your flight cards filled out properly.   For a copy of the launch procedure & flight cards call SCRA or visit our web site: http://home.earthlink.net/~mebowitz?

Location:  Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area in Irwindale.

Directions:  The park is located southeast of where the 605 & 210 freeways meet.  Enter park on Azusa Canyon Rd (on Arrow Hwy, just west of Irwindale Ave): pay the park vehicle fee and then turn left at the main park roadway and proceed all the way to parking lots 5 or 6 (*except during April, May & early June).  Launch area will be roped off just south of parking lots (toward the dam) in "overflow" area.  Park map is available at entrance or on our website.

*During April, May & early June when the Renaissance Fair is using the west end of the park, we use the much smaller lawn area just south of the boat launch parking lot.  Turn right at the boat launch road that leads to that parking lot.  You can't miss it since it's just past parking lot 3 and there is a stop sign there.

Contact:  P.O. Box 5165, Fullerton, CA 92838-0165 or call (714( 529-1598 (evenings) - leave a message during the day)

Launch times:  from 8 AM to 12 noon Arrive early if you want to launch!

LIMITS: Field will accomodate up to a single G motor (*except during April, May & early June)  There are trees and a lake down wind from our launch and recovery area, so you should use the lowest power motors possible to recover your model ockets safely.  *During April, May and early June, because of the smaller laaunch and recovery area, the power limit will be very low.  You will ONLY be allowed to use the lowest power motor that can be safely used in any model up to a C motot maximum for large and heavy models.  Medium sixed models will be limited to A or B motors.  Small models will typically use 1/4A, 1/2/A or A motors.  The intent is to limit the maximum altitude to about 500 feet for streamer recovery models and about 350 feet for parachute recovery models.  Call us or see our YahooGroup for more details or advice.

SCOUT OR YOUTH GROUPS MUST CALL US WELL IN ADVANCE TO AVOID SCHEDULING CONFLICTS AND I'T STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOUR GROUP LEADER(S) TAKE ONE OF OUR CLASSES!!!
