Jesus of Nazareth in Early Christian Gospels
-
Four ancient texts have traditionally been employed in recounting the sayings and deeds of Jesus of Nazareth. The Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John have together enjoyed the priveleged status of sacred scripture since the late second century when they began to receive the consensus approval of the early catholic church. The four gospels now found in the New Testament, however, were not the only sources of information about Jesus available in early Christian communities. Initially word about Jesus was passed on orally, but before long many written accounts of the life of Jesus were also in circulation. These early Christian gospels enjoyed widespread influence for centuries before interest in them waned and they were lost and forgotten.

-
the Shroud of Turin
-
The Shroud of Turin is a centuries old linen cloth that bears the image of a crucified man. A man that millions believe to be Jesus of Nazareth. Is it really the cloth that wrapped his crucified body, or is it simply a medieval forgery, a hoax perpetrated by some clever artist? Modern science has completed hundreds of thousands of hours of detailed study and intense research on the Shroud. It is, in fact, the single most studied artifact in human history, and we know more about it today than we ever have before. And yet, the controversy still rages. This web site will keep you abreast of current research, provide you with accurate data from the previous research and let you interact with the researchers themselves.

the Beloit College Mindset List
-
For several years, Beloit College has prepared a list of some of the things that differentiate the frame of reference of entering students from that of their teachers and mentors. After all, students of 18, for whom the fall of the Berlin Wall was a topic of their parents’ conversation, know little of the fears of the Cold War and nuclear annihilation. For their younger teachers, Watergate is a distant memory; for their distinguished senior professors—the ones with a pile of vinyl LPs in the closet —the Crash and the Depression probably shaped their lives. Courses on American history now need to include Vietnam and the sixties, not to mention the development of electronic communication.

From the Other Side
-
Many things are written about The Wall, but never anything of being on the other side. I was inspired by the famous painting, Lee Teter's: "Reflections", and Don Poss' recent: "Autumn's Wall" story. For me, and I hope for you: "Reflections", and: "Autumn's Wall", reveal the Wall's emotion and healing power. Now, remember that walk we all began in Vietnam, and know that it will be completed . . .
