CORVETTESOF SOUTH LAKE TAHOE SHOW & SHINE
In June if this year Lonnie and I went to South Lake Tahoe for the Corvette Show and Shine. The weather was great we were able to make most of the trip with the top down until we got near Sacramento and it got very hot. I ask that he pull over and put the top up. After we were part way up the mountain we pulled over and put the top back down.
We took pioneer trial, as it is a great drive with the top down. What a great view.We arrived at the Event Hotel at Approximately 3:00pm. Lonnie discovered that there was oil on the rear of the car. His heart just sank and he got very quiet. We were parked next Victor Vitti Vic had every thing but the tool to remove the plug from the rear axel. Lon went to the event staff and asked where we should go to get the car checked out. The member of South Lake Tahoe Corvette club was very helpful and made numerous calls for us. One member said if we could not get the problem solved we could uses his rack at his home that evening if we needed to.
Lon remembered where the NAPA auto parts store was so off we went. Lon locate the auto parts store and bought the tool needed. He asks the counterman where he could go to get the oil level checked. He said go to the best shop in town he works on high-end sports cars and drives a lambo. The shop was just a few blocks from the parts store. His shop was full and could not look at the car. He called his buddy that owned the Pennzoil oil stop.
So we were off again approximately 3 blocks down the street to theOil Stop. On of the employees saw us coming and directed us in over the pit. He slid the back of the pit open and said I’m sorry I do not have the tool to remove the plug. Lon said I do and gave him the tool. The oil level was at the correct level. The man requested that Lon come into the pit and have a look. It was determined that the seal in the left side axel cover was leaking and would need to be repaired very soon.
With the problem solved we returned to the event hotel and parked the car again. Lon cleaned up the car and finished the paper work. The hotel was very nice the rooms were spacious and comfy. We enjoyed the weekend very much. We returned home Sunday afternoon without any further problems. This was our 45 wedding anniversary get away also. SANDRA
