Volunteer
Opportunities
Volunteers are welcome to come into the food bank any week day morning at any time from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A variety of jobs are available, including sorting food, greeting clients, restocking the food line, breaking down bulk items, sorting produce, unloading trucks, office filing, etc. If you would like to volunteer, just come on in and we'll put you to work! We also have volunteer hours available one evening each month. That is the 3rd Tuesday of the month, from 5:30 until 8:15 pm.
In addition to the many odd jobs available, we are currently in need of one regular volunteer to help on the food line each Wednesday morning and one for each Friday morning. We also need two regular volunteers to help us clean and move carts out of the hallway each Friday from 11:45 until 1:15. If you can make this regular commitment, come on in and we'll put you to work!
Occasionally, there are special events or projects held outside the food bank. These include events such as the Letter Carriers' Food Drive, held at local post offices the day before Mothers' Day each year (pictured above). There are also times that we have groups take bulk items such as beans or rice to be bagged. If you are interested in helping with a special event, please contact us for more information, and (you guessed it) we will put you to work!
We do accept some volunteers who need to do court ordered community service hours. Please contact us for more information.
