Howard Sasportas Memorial
On May 12th of 2002 we remember the tenth year since Howard Sasportas passed on. When he died he was one of the most well known astrologers of his time. He had published many books. Howard was the son of Max and Edie Sasportas.

The stars must be aligned for Howard. Larry and Ruth Cohen were in London this month. Read how they were touched by Howard’s memory on their trip. Larry writes…..

Coincidently with the anniversary of Howard Sasportas’ death, Ruth and I just got back from London. While there, we were walking in Covent Garden when we saw The Astrology Shop and thought it would be fun to get a printout for our new grandson, Jack. The clerk said there were two versions we could get. One was by a local astrologer. The other was by Liz Greene. When I asked him which was better he said "Well, Liz used to work with Howard Sasportas". It was obvious from the way he said it that this was no small fact. After I told him that Howard was part of my "mischpacha" and showed him my address book with the names, Arnold, Robert, and David Sasportas he called out excitedly to the owner who came out to talk to us. The owner, Barry Street, said he knew Howard and told me a great story about him. First of all, Howard was a megastar in Astrology circles and was widely read and respected. He told me about the time in the early 90's(?) when Howard received the Regulus Award, the highest "Oscar" of Astrology, at the UAC Conference held that year in Washington D.C. He was very ill and in a lot of pain, a fact known to the Brits but not to the Americans in the audience. He was discreetly wheel-chaired into the black tie event ballroom and before his award was wheeled out the back to a door right behind the stage. All the Brits were wondering how in his condition he was going to pull this off. When they announced the prize he appeared on stage walking without help and gave a speech not about his award but how we all had to "live our lives to the fullest and count each day a blessing". Barry Sheet said there was not a dry eye in the room, especially from the Brits who knew how much pain he was in that night. He got a standing ovation, left the stage and was taken right to the hospital. Sheet, as he was telling me this story, was moved again in it's retelling. He said there was no one in the room who will ever forget it!!!

The articles below were sent to Max and Edie after Howard’s death. The documents are displayed in large form so that you can read the content. You will need to scroll the screen.
