ZX Series USER GUIDE

For all "ZX" Series EYE-ONs installed since January 1999. Your EYE-ON ALARM requires TWO Steps to arm and disarm the system.

The First Step is to select arming or disarming mode. There are three arming modes. See below. The Second Step is to enter your code.

Three Different Modes to Arm    :   (Away-Stay-Night.)
When you arm your EYE-ON ALARM, you must tell it what level security that you desire.

  • AWAY activates all doors and windows on the alarm, as well as all glassbreak detectors and motion detectors. This is for when the house is unoccupied.

  • STAY activates all doors and windows on the alarm. This is for when the house is occupied and making noise and movement during waking hours.

  • NIGHT activates all doors and windows on the alarm, as well as glassbreak detectors. This is for use during "quiet" hours typical to night time when movement is restricted to bedrooms.

EYE-ON ALARM Glossary:

Delay Zones: Permit entry/exit from building. Typically one minute out and 30 seconds in.

Instant Zones: Ring alarm immediately once triggered. These are non-entry doors, windows, glassbreaks and motion detectors.

24-Hour Zones: This is your smoke and heat fire protection.
Panic Keys: Located on Keypad. "always On." Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate.

Duress Code: Arms/disarms alarm while silently communicating a "hostage"signal to central station. Sends anytime you enter your four-digit duress code, regardless of "ready"light.

Code Address: Very important during combination changes! This tells the system how many codes you have and where your combinations are programmed into the system.

EYE-ON ALARM Operation

You must first select a function, and then your code.

  • To disarm: Press "Off/Cancel," then your "Code."

  • To arm when the premise will be vacant: Press "Away" and then "Code."

  • To arm while at home during waking hours: Press "Stay," then "Code."

  • To arm at home while sleeping: Press "Night," and then "code."

  "The Beep Sound."
Your EYE-ON ALARM keypad will gently emit a high-tone warning sound to alert you to your "delay cycle."

Opening a delay door after your EYE-ON ALARM is armed will yield keypad sound until the system is disarmed.

Upon exiting, the keypad will beep until the "delay out"cycle has expired. To negate unwanted alarms, your EYE-ON ALARM begins a new "delay out"cycle if the original time-frame has elapsed. This deters unwarranted activity on your "going out" doors.

This delays cycle restarts only once.

  Clearing Mistakes.

If you enter the wrong code, simply press the "clear" key on the bottom left of your keypad and then resume your arming or disarming sequence.

Unwanted Alarm Events

Every "false alarm" has a true reason to occur.

  • Secondary users. major source. see below*.

  • Mechanically unsound doors or windows. If it does not lock and latch tightly, then it's most likely to activate an accidental alarm. "Big time" source when it rains.

  • Windows left open while arming your system will trigger the motion detectors inadvertently.

  • Drafty doors and windows may trip your alarm.

  • Heaters left on while away may cause an unwanted alarm event.

  • Rodents in attics and crawlspaces tend to chew wires.

  • Remodeling your space with our wires requires our involvement. Contractors not licensed in alarm work may get the system "to set," but to work reliably and not void your warranty, you need us.

  • Ignoring the "trouble light." Your EYE-ON ALARM wants you to know it needs your help. Don't arm with a trouble light without calling us!

* EYE-ON ALARM needs your full attention to stop unwanted alarm activity.
An accidental alarm often derives from secondary users like housesitters or janitors.
Train all who have keys to your premise on proper arming/disarming techniques. They must also know the central station number and password!

To activate your "duress" function, enter your four-digit street address after arming or disarming. There is no siren or keypad sound. A signal will be sent to central station. You do not need a "ready light." If your street address is shorter than four digits, add "0" to make four digits.
