Little Knights of Our Lady,
Protectors of the Eucharist
TEXAS
It was sometime in September 1999, when one of the mothers of the Little Knights was in Church praying. Our Holy Mother in Heaven asked her to bring the little children to Church everyday after school and have them say one Hail Mary. This mother understood that she was to bring her child as well as the children she kept after school and also two of her friends children and grandchildren. The children were all very willing. There were eleven children in all and three adults. They range in age from 2 years old to 8 years old. We gathered the children and told them they needed to be quiet and reverent while in church and asked them not to speak until we left church.
We placed them in the first pew and we all knelt down and made the Sign of the Cross. We prayed the Hail Mary and one of the mothers was inspired to say the St. Michael prayer. Then we made the Sign of the Cross and quietly left. We did this for several days. Then one day the three adults were delayed, so the children went on ahead. What we found was truly amazing! Every child was kneeling directly in front of Jesus in the Tabernacle. (Note our Tabernacle is located directly behind our altar at the center.) The adults looked at each other and said "I'm not telling them to leave." We then realized that Our Lord wanted them there and since then that is where we have prayed.
As time went on we started adding petitions before the Hail Mary. I'll never forget the time when one of our little children age five asked God very casually "Dear God could you please send us some rain" and wiped her brow with the back of her hand. It was about 30 minutes after we arrived home and the sun was shining bright and it started to rain. "What a miracle!" We've had many miracles resulting out of the innocent prayers of these little children. We also added a prayer for God's Blessings after the St. Michael prayer. We asked the children to bow their heads for the blessing. Guess what? They prostrated themselves. (Amazing isn't it?)
Shortly after praying a few weeks the name "The Little Knights of Our Lady . . . Protectors of the Eucharist" came to one of the mothers. So that is what they began to call themselves.
We continued to pray, the above way for a few months and other children begin to join us from time to time. One day, one of the little boys handed one of the mothers a Brides of the Most Blessed Trinity Prayer card. So we explained to them about the Apostolate of the Brides, a mission that prays for priests. (Note two of the adult women belonged to this Apostolate.) We realized that the little children were being called to pray for Holy Priests. We wanted to make it simple for them. We told them that we would pray for all priests, for our Pope, John Paul II, all Cardinals, Bishops, priests, deacons and religious, for all seminarians, for all being called to the priesthood, for all future priests in the wombs of their mothers, for all children that would be called to be priests and religious and for all priests who had died. The prayer we started to pray is as follows:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. We Pray for Holy Priests.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee, Blessed our Thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of Thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
St. Michael the Archangel defend us in our day of battle be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him we humble pray and do thou O Prince of the Heavenly Host by the power of God cast into hell satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
We bow our heads and ask for God's Blessings, not that we may keep for ourselves but so we may share with all we meet. And we thank you for all the wonderful gifts and blessings you have given us to share with one another. Amen.
Protectors of the Eucharist Pray for Us. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
We have each of the children take turns in leading the prayers. We also meet in the cry room from time to time just to talk about whatever is on their hearts. We sometimes read Scripture and have refreshments and playtime at least once a month. We recently started having them go before the statue of Our Lady of Grace and the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the statue of St. Joseph holding baby Jesus. (Each separate statues but are by each other). We do the following Consecration.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary and Paternal Heart of St. Joseph, we consecrate our lives, our families, our parish, our priests and religious, our school, the Little Knights of Our Lady, the Brides of the Most Blessed Trinity, our community, the Catholic Church and the whole world to you. Guard and protect us all the days of our lives and make us holy so we too may join you in Heaven one day. Amen.
We ask them to pause and say their own prayers. And then we leave quietly. (At least most of the time.)
On December 8th 1999, we were inspired to have the group Consecrated through the Immaculate Heart of Mary to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Deacon at our Church was very happy to do this. The children and their leaders said the following prayer.
Dear God, We The Little Knights of Our Lady, Consecrate ourselves through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, offering all of our works of Love, Prayers, Play, Sufferings and Sacrifices united with Jesus' precious Body and Blood offered daily by your Holy Priests, as a shield of protection for the Holy Priesthood from this day forward and for all eternity. Amen.
To our surprise the Deacon also anointed each one of them with Holy Oil and explained to them what the anointing meant. It was truly beautiful.
Since September 1999, two of the little children have been baptized into the Catholic faith. We also had a new baby boy born on December 25, 1999. (Note the opening of the Jubilee Doors). We thank God for such a special Blessing. He and his mother were anointed into the group on March 23, 2000. Also, seven of these children will make their first Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday. God has truly Blessed this group and we thank Him abundantly for letting us be His Little Servants. We hope that God will continue to Bless this group and inspire other children to pray for Holy Priests. Praise be the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. Love through the Hearts of Jesus and Mary,
The Little Knights of Our Lady . . . Protectors of the Eucharist
(The Little Knights pray daily before the Blessed Sacrament for holy priests!)
ANGEL TREE
From Thanksgiving through Christmas, our school puts up an angel tree with names & petitions on each angel. During that time at the Children's Holy Mass at the Prayers of the Faithful, all the angels on the tree are offered and Father offers them at other Masses as well. In 1999, the Little Knights had two angels on the tree. One was for Our Holy Father, John Paul II and the other was for All Priests.
From Lent until the end of school, the children had a petition box that was offered during the childrens Masses. The Little Knights placed a petition for Pope John Paul II and Holy Priests.
When school starts again this fall, we will once again offer petitions for Pope John Paul II and for Holy Priests. We hope that you will join us at your Catholic Schools and CCD Programs and offer your Masses for Pope John Paul II and for Holy Priests.
