Fr. Manny Fernandez was at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church in Thibodaux on Feb. 25, 2010 for Confessions, Holy Mass and a Healing Service. Over 800 were in attendence and several healings have been reported.
Below is a short synopsis about our dear friend, Fr. Manny.
Father Manny Fernandez, whose native country is the Philippines, first came to the Diocese of Lafayette in 1987. He is currently serving as Pastor of St. John Church in Henry, LA, with a mission parish of St. James Church which is in Esther, LA. Father Manny was ordained to the priesthood on November 10, 1979, and became a missionary in Africa shortly after his ordination. While in Africa Father Manny died and was abandoned in the hospital room with his sacristan sleeping keeping watch over his body. Then God sent those ants to “wake him up.” He awakened with ants crawling all over him. Nine hours after his death, he came back to life and the sacristan ran off screaming. Due to the serious illnesses that he contracted in Africa, his missionary work was cut short, and in 1982 he returned to the Philippines to regain his strength. Soon afterwards, Father realized that he had been given the gift of healing; and has been celebrating Healing Masses, and offering the blessing of the Holy Spirit to the faithful, ever since. Fr. Manny became a United States citizen in 1996, and he very much considers Louisiana to be his home. He has a tremendous love and respect for the people of Acadiana, and appreciates their joy and enthusiasm for life.
