    Inglewood Celebrates the Arts

    Karla With a K hosted the Queen Street stage of the "City of Inglewood Celebrates the Arts, Market Street Festival" on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, 11AM to Dusk.  The day brought out an eclectic mix of cultural performances.

    Market Street was blocked off from Regent St. to Hillcrest Blvd., making room for street vendors, two (2) stages of entertainment and the 27th Annual Fall Classic Car Show.

    Blacks In Government held their 23rd National Training Conference at the Los Angeles Convention Center the week of August 27-31, 2001.

    I came back home to Ettrick, VA in 2011 and discovered a Certificate Of Training that my mother, Doris Edward (at that time), received "for attendance and participation in the Third Annual Blacks In Government Training Conference, held August 25-28, 1981, at the Washington Hilton Hotel, Washington, D. C., which consisted of general sessions, workshops, forums, and sessions to reflect the theme, "Preparedness, Performance, Productivity: Blueprint for Equal Opportunity."

    The NAACP's 22nd Annual Afro-American, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics luncheon was held Thursday, May 17, 2001, 1pm at the New Otani Hotel, Downtown L.A., California.

    "Karla With a K" was Mistress of Ceremonies of this event that honored high school prodigies who have excelled in the various disciplines of the NAACP's ACT-SO competition.
