OH WOW! Things are getting too political these days. I really believe there is a strategy in place to which we are not privy. As Christians, we must put our confidence in our Savior, Jesus Christ and be led by His spirit.
I question why Oprah would be sent to a country where women are not respected. What kind of strategy is that?
Due to globalization, savvy business leaders are obtaining multi-cultural advisers to train managers and staff who have to travel internationally. Based on information that was told to me by some of my class associates who work for international companies, females who were on American soil have had problems interacting with Middle Eastern men. The men have refused to look at the females let alone speak to the women. During a class discussion, we analyzed international business practices and tried to determine if it is wise to impose our American practices on other cultures or, if when doing business with other cultures, we should adhere to the culture of another country. Interestingly enough, it was determined that it depends on the purpose. If we (American business people) are not interested in being successful in our venture, we surmised, or if we want to make a statement of power, we will send a female representative to the negotiation table.
Clearly, President Bush's interest in sending Oprah was not to negotiate with Middle Eastern men. Perhaps it was to make a statement of power that the U.S. is in control of this...
