Praying for Your Prodigal Daughter
Hope, Help, and Encouragement for Hurting Parents

Many Christian parents throw up their hands or suffer from guilt based parenting...neither of which helps the daughter. Based on her own testimony of praying for over six years for her former prodigal daughter, Kim, Janet gives hope to parents in what may seem like a hopeless situation.
Janet came from a line of prodigal daughters, and she herself had her backsliding days after accepting Christ at the age of eleven and then living life her own way as a divorced single parent for seventeen years. When she rededicated her life to the Lord, married a godly man, and entered seminary, Janet thought for sure her daughter would want to live the Christian life too. But during her wayward years, Janet was not a good role model for her only daughter, Kim, who started on her own prodigal journey at age seventeen.
Dear God, They Say It's Cancer, A Companion Guide for Women on the Breast Cander Journey

I wrote the book I longed for when I went through breast cancer at the end of 2002. I needed a place to write down the journey I was on as well as keep track of all the information I was receiving. I had so many questions but I could only read so many technical books and one testimonial book was enough because this was my story. It seemed my life was scattered between anything I could grab at the moment to make notes--realtors note pads, back of receipts, covers of magazines. Only three weeks out of radiation, I went to Mount Hermon Writer's Conference and met the editors for Howard Books. I had a list of the things I would like in a book and the passion to write it. They caught my vision and Dear God, They Say It's Cancer is the result. Writing this book was painful yet cathartic. My prayer and vision is that the breast cancer sister who receives this book will relate to my story and those of 45 other breast cancer sisters who share their story along with the tips offered in the Mentoring Moments Section and Love letters from the Lord. There is a place to journal her own thoughts and story and a Sanity Tools Section with a place to keep track of all her treatment and medical information. There are also pockets in the cover of the book to put the many business cards and pieces of paper she collects at every doctors appointment.
Woman to Woman Mentoring

Woman to Woman Mentoring was birthed in 1995 when its founder Janet Thompson received a call from the Lord to 'Feed My sheep.' At the time, Janet was running an insurance agency and enrolled in Fuller Theological Seminary. She had been asking the Lord what He wanted her to do when she finished Seminary. In search of the answer, she attended a Women In Ministry Leadership Conference in Portland Oregon where she heard the words, "Feed My sheep." When she asked, "What sheep? Where? And what would I feed them if I found them?" she again heard, "Feed My Sheep." Janet said an obedient, "OK" and then prayed for more direction. The Lord was gracious...the very next morning the conference speaker spoke from the verses in John 21:15-17 where Jesus is saying to Peter, 'If you love me, feed My sheep.' The title of that session was 'Shepherding Women in Your Church."
Woman to Woman Mentoring is now in its second decade at Saddleback Church, and Janet has learned a great deal about team building. She shares the joys and sorrows, the failures and successes, and the benefits of team building in a future publication, The Team That Jesus Built.
