Favorite budget restaurants of Monty from PHI Il Pollaio on Columbus near Union St. Grilled Chicken with Flan for dessert make this Argentine restaurant the best tasting value in town. 1/2 Chicken comes with choice of three salads or a combo salad. Dinner with a glass of wine and flan about $15. I only suggest the chicken for I only go there for it! House of Nanking Kearny near Columbus Diner style Chinese food, some call it Hunan. Big variety. They have great vegetable dishes such as ABC vegetables and use yams often in their dishes. Won Ton Soup is darn good and I don't even like won ton soup. Lines are common. Try to get your hands on a menu before going in as the wait staff REALLY wants your order, NOW! Others Lots of continental/ Northern Italian restaurants on/off upscale Union Street. Sushi Chardonnay on Union St has all you can eat(not buffet)sushi & Japanese standards. Friendly couple runs the place. Gelato in North Beach or Swensens at Union & Hyde for cold sweet treats. Tiramisu can be had in varietous forms throughout The City.
