4.Optimize workplace Development

The fourth step of our 5 step process focuses on mapping the workplace objectives and desired performance drivers identified in the second step "Identify Business Objectives" into specific strategies and tactics optimizing:

  1. Workplace Design
  2. Technology Employment
  3. Process Improvements
  4. Behavior Adaptation

This step of the process will give answers to the following questions:

  •  "The "Alternative Office" concept has made many promises. How do I know which alternative office works for my workgroup?"
  •  "Hotelling and telecommuting do wonders to reduce Real Estate costs, but how can we make sure we do not alienate our most valuable people?"
  •  "How do we make our staff reachable by our customers at all times when they are never at their desk?"

To answer these and other questions, PdK Consulting has developed a powerful 5 step methodology. In the first step, (Workplace Performance Diagnostic), PdK Consulting interviews top management and uses a customized version of "The Balanced Scorecard.", to identify WHICH workgroup(s) are critical to corporate success, and HOW they relate to the overall corporate goals and strategies. In the second step, (Identification of Business Objectives), PdK Consulting collects hundreds of objectives and their performance drivers. In the third step, (Baseline Performance Quantification), PdK Consulting establishes, through a variety of observations and data collection methods, a baseline measure of the workgroup performance.

In the fourth step of the process, Optimize Workplace Development, PdK Consulting builds on the learning of the previous three steps to develop specific strategies and tactics for performance improvements, forming four "Action Maps". A separate Action Map is developed for each of the four performance elements, Workplace Design, Technology Employment, Process Improvements, Behavior Adaptation.

Action Maps

For each performance driver identified in the second step, PdK Consulting and workgroup team members identify a set of actions aimed at improving those performance drivers. For each action, an accountability is identified and specific due dates are planned.

Some of the actions will require new workplace strategies and design. Others will require the employment of new technologies. The new workplace design and the supporting new technologies will facilitate process improvements.

Moving into new workplace environments, employing new technologies and improving processes all create changes which require management and behavior adaptation. The action maps also include tasks with accountabilities and due dates aimed at successfully managing those changes.

The "Optimize Workplace Development" service is typically completed in 2 to 4 weeks depending on the number of distinct workgroup involved.

PdK's fee for the Identify Business Objectives module ranges from $10,000 to $20,000 depending on the number of distinct workgroups involved.

All PdK Consulting fees are offered with unconditional money back guarantee.  PdK will refund 100 % of your fees if you are not satisfied with PdK Consulting performance for any reason.
