Additional Resources for Child Abuse


If child abuse is severe, or there is an immediate risk or danger to a child, you should contact  911 or police immediately.

If there is no immediate threat to a child, you should call State of Oregon's Services to Children and Families at 503-731-3410 (Metro Regional Branch) or click here to view direct phone numbers to local branches in the Portland Metro area.


What IS child abuse? It is physical abuse, neglect, mental injury or emotional harm, sexual abuse, or the threat of harm.

For Crisis Support and Counseling Referrals call PWCL (Portland Women's Crisis Line) 24-hours a day at 503-235-5333 or toll free at 888-235-5333.

The Portland Women's Crisis Line sponsors abuse survivor support groups and can refer you to other groups in the community.

The YWCA of Clark County (Vancouver, WA) sponsors The YWCA Sexual Assault Program and can be reached at 360-696-0167 or toll free at 800-695-0167.

Survivors of Incest Anonymous is a twelve-step program modeled after Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). For information call Linda at 503-620-1702.

United Way Information and Referral offers information and referrals for people in need, including abuse survivors seeking shelter, support groups, and counseling referrals.

The Council for Prostitution Alternatives assists women, many of whom are abuse survivors, who are working in the sex industry. The Council can be reached at 503-282-1082.

The State of Oregon's Crime Victim Compensation Program can help cover the costs of abuse survivor's medical care, counseling and time lost from work. Applications can be obtained by calling the Oregon Department of Justice at 503-378-5348.

If you are considering a lawsuit against your abuser, you should consult with an attorney. You can request a referral to lawyers who represent abuse victims by calling OASA (Oregon Abuse Survivors and Advocates) at 503-222-3133.
