Testing Consortium (Secretarial/Clerical Test)
The Testing Consortium includes Port of Portland, Multnomah County, City of Gresham, City of Portland, and Clackamas County. Consortium Test scores can be required with an application for employment as as Office Specialist (or related clerical job) with one of the previous listed agencies. The test is given on a computer and consists of a multiple choice examination (100 questions) and typing speed test. The test costs $5 and includes a test preparation manual. Testing sessions are held on a regular schedule. Test results are available to you immediately after you have completed both tests.
Exam results will be valid for two years. You may re-take the test at no additional charge once every three months during that two-year period (However, you may re-apply only once every six months.)
Minimum test scores include a net typing speed of 25 words per minute and a written test score of 60 or above (Office Specialist I) or 70 or above (Office Specialist II). Some positions may require knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software such as Word, WordPerfect, Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, Access, PowerPoint, Quattro, etc.
