STEPS TO SUCCESS

One of the most challenging aspects of being in charge of personnel is finding the right person for the job. The recruitment process is time-consuming, expensive, and often frustrating.

Steps to Success offers an alternative to this process. We offer help finding the right employee!  Our job is to bring qualified employees to the companies that need them. We provide many of the services of a traditional employment agency but with one important difference -- there is no cost to the employer or the applicant.

Employers who work with Steps to Success appreciate the training, motivation, and positive attitude that our applicants bring to their work. Excellent service is only a phone call away, and that's why employers keep coming back to us when they need qualified, reliable people that they can trust on the job.

REFERRALS

Employers may request referrals in any way they wish. We are able to fax resumes, schedule interviews, or simply refer applicants to fill out applications. We make it our goal to get back to you as quickly as possible with pre-screened applicants.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE
(Worksite Training/Internship Program)

The Worksite Trainining/Internship Program is designed to allow motivated participants to gain valuable work experience. Trainees are available for 4 weeks to 3 months at no cost to the employer. Worker's Compensation is paid by the Department of Human Services.  Trainees gain valuable work experience, skills to enhance employability, and the opportunity to enhance their resumes with letters of reference and added skills.  We can also work with employers on a 4-week-to-hire program which enables the trainee to gain experience and training while both the employer and trainee determine if the match is successful for full-time regular employment.

To place a request with Steps to Success for a Volunteer Work Experience/Internship employee, call Deborah Higa at 503-256-0432, ext. 35577 or email her at deborah.higa@mhcc.edu

PROJECT ENTERPRISE

Project Enterprise is a "work simulation" training that simulates a real business, giving our trainees invaluable "real world" experience before entering the workforce.  This opportunity allows a safe space for trainees to work on employability skills with coaching and mentoring to address any issues that arise.  Project Enterprise also provides local businesses the opportunity to have special projects completed at NO COST to the employer.  We are creative and flexible and look forward to talking to any employer who might wish to use this valuable free service!  Below is a list of the types of projects that our students complete along with the services this program offers to employers:

**Students fulfill onsite production work orders that are brought in from local businesses.  Projects include mailings, collating, stuffing marketing bags, data entry, making phone calls from a call list, and pretty much anything creative that can be brought onsite to be completed by clients in the Project Enterprise Workshop.   Project Enterprise also offers quality control of your projects by a professional staff.

**Students fulfill group offsite work experience trainings at local businesses.  A Project Enterprise van transports these small groups to and from the employer's place of business.  Each group has a job coach who works closely with the employer and the students to ensure that work is properly carried out and students' behaviors model the workplace.

To discuss Project Enterprise in more detail or to place an onsite or offsite work order, please call Sue Spencer at:  503-256-0432, ext. 22231 or email her at susan.spencer@mhcc.edu.
