THANKSGIVING ASSISTANCE
SNOW-CAP
Rockwood United Methodist Church (located beside Snow-Cap and the library at 17788 SE Pine St., Portland) will be serving a Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day from 12-2 p.m. Families just need to show up between these hours -- no reservations are required. **You must live in East Metro area. CHRISTMAS ASSISTANCE
Sunshine Division - Portland Police Department
The Sunshine Division takes names for Christmas food baskets. If an applicant applied elsewhere for a food basket, this will show up on the region-wide database and you will not be eligible for a second food basket. They will deliver your food basket on the Saturday before Christmas. For a food basket, call 503-823-2169.
Salvation Army

EAST is taking applications currently until filled and PORTLAND will be taking applications beginning November 15. CLACKAMAS COUNTY will be taking applications beginning November 1. Salvation Army will providing toys (2 toys per child) for ages 0-14 years and a Christmas Food Boxr that includes a ham (applicant will pick up the food box themselves WITH THEIR RECEIPT at a designated time). **Note: You can sign up for BOTH (holiday food boxr and toys) at once, but please don't sign up for a regular food basket at this time.
An applicant will need to bring the following:
- Medical Card, Welfare Card, or Social Security Number
- Photo Identification
- A bill (mail) showing current address
Applicants will fill out some quick paperwork and they will check ID and income verification on the spot. This is all a quick process.
Coats For Kids Program (Salvation Army)
This program begins in November and will continue until they run out of donations (approximately 2-3 weeks). EAST (East of 82nd Ave. & Gresham) and PORTLAND (West of 122nd Ave.) should all go to the WEST branch on 1712 NE Sandy Blvd. It is the same procedure as for toys and the Christmas Dinner (i.e., bringing in I.D, a bill, etc.). Toy and Joy Program (KGW Toy Drive)
Call 503-231-TOYS and give your zip code. They will give you the appropriate number to call according to your zip code. They provide gifts for children, ages 2 to 12. Call the Salvation Army if your kids are over age 12. The address for the area around East Branch is 2600 SE 182nd (South of Division).
