Metro East Portland Interfaith Hospitality Network

A Community Response for Homeless Families

The Interfaith Hospitality Network is a volunteer agency providing services to 14 homeless family members living in the East Multnomah County area. This program is made possible through the generosity and volunteer support of churches and civic organizations within our community.



Guests are:
  • Families with children only (no singles or couples only)
  • Age 18 or older, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • Employable (i.e., looking for work)
  • Expected to sign a 30-day agreement
  • Expected to meet with the director and case manager on a regular basis and comply with goals and objectives



Guests will not:
  • Be at imminent risk of domestic violence
  • Have untreated or unstable mental illness
  • Have used drugs or alcohol within the last 14 days
  • Have a history of violent or sexual crimes
  • Have communicable diseases (a health screening may be required)



Services Provided:
  • Overnight occommodations in various Host Churches
  • Day Center with phone, lounge, and office resources
  • Three meals per day
  • Laundry and shower facilities
  • Case Management coordination



Referral Process:
  • Referrals must be made by a Metro East Hospitality Network Case Manager to our Director, Karen Burger-Kimber
  • Initial phone interview (30-45 minutes) with case manager and family member
  • Intake interview at Day Center (1.5-2 hours) with all family members present (if possible) during the following days and hours: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
