Stevens & James Marketing (S&J)
Director of Product Development,
Sales and Marketing. A Utah
County based marketing firm for which I developed products and product
positioning, including computer program applications which tracked customer
purchases, cost per lead, and cost per sale on a campaign-by-campaign and
customer-groups basis. Also, designed and/or recommended marketing and
promotional materials for general “image” marketing as well as for specific
products. As part of my duties, I
q developed “marketing coaching” products and programs;
coached the owners of the company as they presented and developed “FREE
seminar” educational sales marketing/sales program;
q implemented selling seminars at a national convention
and sold $45,000 in marketing coaching products, doubling the event sales; this
idea came to me in the middle of a 5-day national marketing convention and I
implemented it with a budget of $150 per day for 3 days;
q set up and supervised a telemarketing operation of
the company’s products and services, writing scripts and setting up tracking
systems for quality and productivity control, sales tripled during my
supervision;
q
consulted various
clients of S&J in their businesses (a retail clothing chain, several
franchised nutritional products retailers, several franchised carpet cleaners,
and various independent businesses) developing product definitions and tracking
systems on product sales, up-selling systems (creating up-sale products and
packages), customer referral systems, and assisted each business in
joint-venture, alliance relationships to add products and customer appeal.

FutureNow Training Centers International, LLC
Co-founder. A retail
operation in the Orem University Mall (during Christmas season) combined with a
nation telemarketing effort, a joint-venture I established with ESI, Inc.;
researched products and negotiated (and often drafted) resale agreements with
source companies like: i-link (Long Distance and Business Communications
products), Citi-link (voicemail), FutureNet (WebTV) and BizKonnect (web page
designer utility and word processor) and Office Max and Future Shop; designed
logos and marketing as well as procedures for in-store personnel and
independent distributors.

Borges Lamont Company / FONE (Fax
Opportunity Network Exchange)
Vice President of Marketing and
Distributor Relations. A Utah County based wholesale reseller of various
premium-incentive products and close-out products. Originally hired as an
outside consultant to resolve company relations problems with 3,000 distributors;
became VP and supervised a Distributor Advocate (customer service) Manager AND
28 telephone representatives, coordinated a team effort to track and manage
resolution of 6000 faxes (orders and customer service requests) and 3500 phone
calls per week at a cost of less than 5% of my department budget;
developed policy and procedure manuals for FONE distributors as well as
customer service team; analyzed the products FONE sold and developed product
disclosures and training helps for distributors; while coordinating with
warehouse and fulfillment departments, identified shipping discrepancies that
were costing the company over $1500 per week and set up a system that virtually
eliminated the problem in less than 5 weeks.

Co-founder, as one of 10 National Real Estate Investment
Opportunity speaker, including: Joe Land (How to buy real estate with real estate
paper), Mike and Irene Milen (options, foreclosures), Hal Morris
(foreclosures), and others, we conceived, produced and promoted an event at the
Los Angeles Convention Center as the “last straw” for me in a decade of real
estate education. I hosted, taught, and sold products to 10,000 attendees on
Saturday, December 8, 1984. I much more enjoyed developing the first “product
seminar loops” and presentations in the USA with real estate entrepreneur and
personal mentor Mark O. Harloldsen, author of
How to Wake Up the Financial Genius Inside You. I was a featured
speaker at all of Mark Haroldsen’s
conventions, and many hundreds of seminars. I have been the “talent” or
featured guest on 4 infomercials, and co-hosted 11 infomercials with Wade B.
Cook (see CFN).

Companion Financial Network (CFN)
Co-founder, (with majority interest) with now nationally know
author Wade B. Cook (see “infomercials”). CFN was one of the first
"on-line" companies in the USA publishing a real estate database;
designed the software user interface to the site; designed and developed the
technical and training manuals for the distributors; and developed and created
alliances for bundled software, including a 3-D spreadsheet analysis software;
planned, supervised, and occasionally conducted seminars and conventions in
various markets of the USA to 1) promote the network, 2) obtain
distributors/dealers, and 3) obtain subscribers; negotiated (and occasionally
drafted) all legal documentation for strategic alliances. This business lead to
a series of infomercials: on five (5) of these, I was the presenter/talent,
while on another eight (8) infomercials on self-help skills including real
estate, and other business opportunities, co-hosted, presented and, on site,
wrote the pitch copy for two 2-minute commercials for each product or service
featured.
