This document is a rough draft and open to any and all considerations and contributions that could best address the issues.

The following gives rise to a “Call to Action” in the form of the Resolutions set forth below. Your signature and/or discussion are invited and encouraged at www.BeingHumanParty.com.

War and Military Action Policy Initiative to Support Our Troops

Not since World War II has the United States of America officially declared war. Yet during the decades since the last “official war”, America has engaged in approximately one major international military conflict every 10 to 15 years (not counting numerous conflicts involving US troops, i.e., Nicaragua, Colombia, Somalia, Granada, Panama and other countries). And, during these decades:

1) The burdens and sufferings created when America engages in international military conflicts are placed upon a disproportionate few;

2) Compensation, healthcare, and other benefits to all our military personnel, in time of either war or peace, have been reduced and/or legislated away, while “private contractors” are paid to perform some of the same duties at up to more than 100 times the military pay schedule;

3) Our citizens and politicians have lost touch with the “realities of war,” and terms like “collateral damage” indicate a gross disrespect for human life;

4) Our “wars” have occurred:

                           (a) With little or NO debate in public forums;
                           (b) With those who would discuss the issues more thoroughly being labeled as “unpatriotic”;
                           (c) With intolerable and unsustainable costs to human life and natural resources; and
                           (d) Without the vote and consent of Congress required by the constitution;

These practices leave us divided us as nation, and the danger and risk to our citizens are unprecedented. If these practices continue, the people of the United States of America and, in fact, the world will continue to live in jeopardy of a war-without-end, with all of its denigrating and atrocious aspects.

There must be no mistake. War is the single most devastating act that any nation or individual can perpetrate upon another. There are serious physical and psychological consequences of being placed in a “kill or be killed” proposition, not the least of which is the requirement to reduce “the enemy”, other human beings and their cultures, to non-human “objects” in order to maintain the kill-or-be-killed supposition.

The undersigned, therefore, do hereby resolve:

1. That the War Powers Act of 1973, that is now so abused, shall be repealed and members of Congress shall uphold their Constitutional duty of office – to be the sole body responsible in declaring war.

2. That, at such time that War is declared, the draft will be reinstated, and all eligible young men (and women?) from 18-35 shall be subject to the draft, keeping in mind such historical deferments as illness, other major disabilities, parenthood, conscientious objections, etc.

3. That Congress shall place upon the People of the United States a War Tax to pay any and all costs related to war and will not be allowed to pass that burden on to future generations.

4. That there shall be independent, complete and unfettered news coverage of all military action and the consequences thereof, and any impediment to that coverage shall be reviewed by Congress with full Congressional hearings.

5. That any person or persons suspected of the manipulation, falsification or fabrication of evidence which gives cause to go to war shall be brought forward and charged with treason and if found guilty shall be dealt with as according to the law; and their supervisors, if any, shall be found complicit and similarly charged.

6. That there shall be no profiteering from any action of war; that all profits and benefits from any actions of war, including the production of military weapons or any rebuilding of any country’s infrastructure, etc., shall be used to repay the costs of war or rebuild and/or reestablish the infrastructure, resources, and/or economies adversely affected by the war; that any individual found profiteering from such action shall also be held accountable as in #5, above.

7. That the Veterans Administrations health care program shall be disbanded and all veterans shall receive complete and unlimited healthcare for life including the ability to choose the health care providers of their choice. (For more on Healthcare, see the Being Human Party Healthcare Policy.

8. That all military personnel injured, disabled or killed in service to their country shall be accorded full and public Military honors upon their return home in recognition of the fact that those who serve their country are members of a National Family who have the right, privilege and responsibility to celebrate and/or mourn them.

9. That all military personnel injured, disabled or killed in service to their country shall receive a Living Wage that shall be passed on to their spouses or minor children upon death.

10. That all young People upon graduating from High School or reaching the age of 18 shall be drafted into the service of their country or community for a minimum of 2 years in a capacity that reflects their future hopes or interests; such service can be in the military, the Peace Corps, the Parks Service programs, and/or internships in government, healthcare, or other community development programs, etc.; through such service, a sense of national identity and community responsibility will be afforded each young person, encouraging them to explore a real-world sense of their own dreams and aspirations; upon completion of this service, each participant will receive a minimum of 4 years of fully funded college or education in their field of chosen endeavors, however each participant who chooses the military will receive 2 years of college for every 1 year of service up to a maximum of 8 years of college;

That, finally, these resolutions in this Initiative, to which each undersigned individual is personally committed, shall be presented to Congress to be enforced and adhered to both in the Spirit and in the letter of law as the will of the People of the United States of America. Resolved, (Optional Information below)
