BASIC OLYMPIC SPARRING TECHNIQUES
All kicks are Roundhouse kicks executed with the *Rear leg:
OFFENSIVE
1. Slide-in Kick (skip forward keeping feet apart)
2. Switch Kick (Kick preceded by switching stance)
3. One step-in Kick
4. Running-step Kick (Pull front leg back and step forward)
5. Fast Kick (this is a Front legged kick with a skip/slide-in motion (not a jump) on supporting leg. Feet should contact with floor and target simultaneously, and in one motion.)
6. **Cut-step/stop Kick (front leg kick while "skipping forward on supporting leg).
7. **Push-step/stomp Kick (back leg kick while "skipping" forward on supporting leg).
**These kicks are performed using the entire sole of the foot, with toes pointed at 10:00 for right foot, and 2:00 for left.
DEFENSIVE
1. Shuffle/skip backwards then Kick
2. Step-back/draw Kick (pull front leg straight back then kick)
3. Slip-Kick/Pada Chagi (slide front leg back while simultaneously executing a Rear leg kick).
____________________________________
These techniques should be practiced in a relaxed, neutrally- balanced fighting stance:
Fists at Collar-bone level with elbows tucked inward, shoulders relaxed, knees slightly bent with weight toward balls of feet, feet aligned sightly past shoulder-width apart with toes pointing at a 45 degree angle.
