A week of activities, games, karate classes, field trips, crafts, and fun. Rather than taking your kids to day care and then to Taekwondo several times per week, your kids can be dropped off at the studio at 8:30 am, and picked up at 2:30 pm five days per week, as well as receive up to two martial arts classes per day. The cost is $195 per week, which includes all fees and activities, is open to kids age 7 to 12 years old, and is limited to 18 participants per each week-long session. You can sign-up at the Information table, while a deposit of $50 will reserve your spot.
NOTE: Non-students must attend a Basic introductory class in order to participate in the Summer camp. The fee is $50.00 for the app. hour-long class, and includes the necessary uniform for the Camp. This semi-private class is scheduled by appointment only: 226-5869.
Camp 1: June 15th - 19th.
Camp 2: July 13th - 17th.
In our Summer camps, we will be focusing on better development of Taekwondo skills, along with life skills and martial arts philosophy and development. And of course, we will be having a lot of fun with many games and activities that develop better coordination and fitness. We want to have a good mix of carefree games along with some focused activities and more in-depth martial arts training, including some practical safety awareness training to keep children safe.
Students will need to bring with them a bag lunch, drink, a snack if desired (snacks will also be available for purchase), pants/shorts, etc., shoes and socks, and leave gameboys and other toys at home. A red Camp T-shirt is included in the sign-up fee, needed to be brought with them on Tuesday and Thursday, and can be worn to camp on Friday. A standard Camp day will begin with drop-off from 8:30 am to 9:00 am. Students should arrive in uniform, and bring the other items mentioned above. We will begin with a review and our Training tenet focus for the day, along with a fun activity, followed by a Taekwondo class. Our daily Pre-camp talk will also include nutrition information, and the importance of a good breakfast to start each day. Another activity will follow, with lunch from 11:30 to 12 noon. We will end with additional martial arts instruction, games and/or activities and clean-up. Pick-up will be from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm. A late pick-up fee of $3.50 will be charged for every 15 minutes late after pick-up time (unless arrangements have been made previously).
Monday
First day of Camp. This day begins with a short orientation, and includes a Taekwondo history lesson.
Tuesday
We will be going to the Fuller Park on Tuesday afternoon with some water activities planned, so kids can also bring something with them that’s okay to get wet in. Pick-up will be at the Studio from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm.
Wednesday
This day will focus on the sport/competition aspect of Taekwondo, and students will need to bring with them what protective sparring gear they may have. This day will also include a fun arts-and-crafts project. Pick-up will be at the Studio from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm.
Thursday
This day will include a martial arts class held outside at Fuller park. Students will also need to bring swimsuits, a towel, and sunscreen with them on this day, as we will be swimming in the afternoon. Pick-up will be at the Veteran’s Home Swimming Pool in Yountville on Thursday from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm. We will provide snacks at poolside on this day, including sunscreen spray as needed. Students need not bring any money with them.
Friday
Students will not need to bring a lunch with them on Friday, as we will be having a Pizza party. Students only need wear their Camp T-shirts and comfortable clothing on Friday, as this will be a safety awareness, movie, and fun day. We will end with any presentations. Pick-up is from 2:30 pm to 2:45 pm at the Studio.
Camp participants will also receive a self-discipline sheet to record things they accomplish at home without being told, and receive a certificate at Camp graduation. Students will also receive up to 6 classes toward the requirements for their next Belt level, as well as a Green summer camp uniform star upon completing their self-discipline sheet.
It is our hope that students will bring home with them a greater sense of pride in themselves, a feeling of empowerment, sportsmanship and empathy toward others, and an awareness of keeping themselves safe from strangers and unhealthy situations. As well as gaining a more meaningful understanding of the martial arts, we also hope that students will be able to try some new things, build new friendships, and develop a stronger bond with those whom they may already know.
