Note to authors (February 15, 2010):
The economy is turning around and publishing houses are beginning once again to open their doors to prospective new writers (an upswing from the first three quarters of 2009). The time is now to take this opportunity seriously. House editors are looking for the "new and unusual." Don't sit back and say, "Well, I wish I had..." Do something about it. However, keep this in mind: A good story is only half the battle. The writing must be sharp, consistent and logically arranged with a pleasing format presentation and acceptable level of characterization. NO, PUBLISHING HOUSES WILL NOT "FIX" MANUSCRIPTS IN-HOUSE regardless of the storyline interest index. Submissions must be salable when the package is opened at publishers. However, there is no such thing as a "perfect manuscript." Mistakes can be found in encyclopedias, and published novels are no different. But "salable" does mean good writing with a unique story.
Let's see what you've got...
