The StuG III Ausf. G was one of the most cost effective tanks to manufacture in the German Army. The relatively low cost led to high production numbers. There were over 7,500 produced during WW II. The Tank Destroyer design was much simpler and much quicker to produce than the rotating turret designed tanks.
