New!! Why Cats Paint
A wonderful book for "cats" of all species!
I own it personally.

The Art of Color
This is the definitive book on Color Theory. Itten's approach is fundamental, thorough, fun and fascinating to work with. When I teach my color class we will use this book as a reference book. Since this book is expensive, you might want to look at it at the library to see if you want to own it. If you are serious about design, however, it is well worth owning.

The Interaction of Color
Famous for his "Homage to the Square" paintings which demonstrated one color's effect on another, Josef Albers masterwork is a brilliant display and explanation of the characteristics of color and the conditions under which certain optical phenomena occur. Using this book along with the color exercises we will do in our color class will give you a perspective on color that is almost magical. It will turn you into a color magician! This book is a wonderful companion book to Itten's and will inspire you to continue color experimentation long after our class has ended.

Feng Shui
Many of you have asked about Feng Shui. While there are many books available on this popular subject, most are difficult to understand or superficial in the treatment of this ancient and complex art. I own this book and find it to be an excellent primer on Feng Shui.

Nikon Cool Pix
This is the digital camera that I use. It has very good resolution for clear beautiful pictures. You can shoot short movies as well. The zoom feature is particularly useful for close up details of fabrics, textures or carved wood and stone. I take this camera on all my shopping trips. Cameras that perfom this well can be 3 times the cost. I purchased a 256mb compact flash card and I never run out of "film"! The jumpshot reader uploads the pictures to my computer desktop seamlessly. If you get this camera and bring it to class I can help you learn to use it! If you select a different camera, just be sure it has the close-up feature so that you can photograph details as close as 3 inches away. The zoom feature and at least 3.0 megapixels are important as well. Also, get a large capacity compact flash card - 128 mb or greater.
