Here's one: "My New Year's Resolution is to improve my posture and therefore improve my dancing. For years I have suffered with chronic low back pain and osteoporosis. This year I have joined a gym and plan to work on strengthening my back, my core. I will stand taller on the dance floor." Linda Voytilla {This is the one that party attendees deemed the winner. Congrats to Linda, on her win, on her decision to work on something that's easier to ignore, and best wishes to her in her efforts. By the way, she danced great on her lesson!} Here is another: "When I observe who I am and what my mission statement is in life, I make the following declaration and take the following stand that who I am is the possibility: freedom, joy, and self expression, and for that the only cost is giving up my impatience. I am a dancer, and with that comes my doubts and my fears, times when I don't feel like dancing, and times when I don't feel I ever reach the excellence that I deeply desire. 2008 will be an evolutionary year for me in dancing by accepting the challenges I have set out to accomplish, and I will be behavior-driven by taking the lessons I feel will benefit me, practicing what I learn, studying the nuances, and above all , always picturing myself as the accomplished dancer I am becoming." ... Joe Vanore And one more: "My dance goals for this year are to explore horizons and beyond. What does that mean? I have been dancing for XX years, so I need to get out of my comfort zone and explore areas that I have avoided in the past, e.g. learning a new dance (Argentine Tango), applying the steps and figures I learn in class to my social dance (I am sure that will make Sandy happy), and regaining the body and stamina I once had so I can enjoy dance long into my (As yet to be reached) golden years." Respectfully Submitted,Dan Dehner And now number 4: My dancing New Year's resolution has to do with commitment. I've always said I want to improve as a dancer, but haven't committed myself to doing so. So this year my resolution is to practice my dancing whenever I can as much as I can. I'll practice at home, at parties, anywhere I can. Just going to one or two lessons isn't enough....Julius Cepeda |
