Phil E DanZnewZ, March 27
Dear Dancers,
Update on Cancellations: The competition this weekend starts at 9:00am Saturday, March 29, so there are NO CLASSES or private lessons at all on Saturday. There is a possibility that Sandra's (not Victoria's, Aubree's, Paul's or Don's) group lessons will be cancelled this Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Please watch the website for announcements on the status of your group lessons. Update on Special Events: The next Second Saturday Soiree is on Saturday, May 10, at the studio. Theme is "South of the Border." Five Dancing Dollars go to everyone wearing bold stripes. The lesson and the Jack & Jill will be foxtrot. We will have an all girl cha cha/tango contest with a FREE private lesson to each winner. The studio will do "Formal Friday" at the Stardust Ballroom on Friday, May 2. Wear your forties finery. Be elelgant and over the top. Why? Just for fun!!!! Prizes to the most glamourous. Update on Brian Fortuna: It's all good news for him. He told me that everything he has tried to get, commercials, movie, job at the community center, hosting opportunities, he has gotten. Last night he was a guest at a special dinner. At this dinner, diners pay forty dollars to enjoy a sumptuous Italian dinner, Italian wine, and they must speak exclusively in Italian for the evening. Brian and Shandi taped their second show for abc.com yesterday morning. Update on Philly Festival and Atlantic Coast Championships, April 11-13: Best wishes and thank you for participating in my events to these dancers-Jerry and Nancy H, Aubree, Jerry D, Joe V, Hannah G, Ann and Andrew C, Steve S and Susan P, Dominic ans Shea, Zack, Chris, Rachel N, Lola and Anton, Nicollette B, Christian and Carol S, Stoney Read, Ian and Nancy. Having a goal for which to prepare really can spur you on to acheivement. Not that dancing has to be about acheivement or even competitive success, but your teacher will do a better job of giving you vvalue on your lessons when she has a goal. The preparation is the key. Value of a Goal: I want to look good when I dance in the competition this weekend. Because of that I have been acutely aware of how I will look in a dress (cut down the late night eating), how well I will be able to use my arms and frame to lead (more time on the UBE machine at the gym), someone may see my hands when I wave my arms around in American smooth (do my nails for the first time this year), how well will I hold up aerobically (dancing harder in Pdr and practicing every chance I get). I think I am benefitting from all this preparation. I wouldn't be motivated to eat properly, think so much about grooming, practice in free time, go to Maple Shade for the UBE machine, join in on progressions in Pdr without the extra motivation that a competition provides. I also would really like to beat the male teams, so we (Rachel, Aubree, Kim, Veronica, Maddy, Nancy, Stephanie) will appreciate your support at Liberty Challenge this Saturday. Events start at 9am at the Convention Center. |
