Wheelchair Dancing at the Arnold

I arrived at the Hyatt Convention Center in Columbus ready to enjoy the weekend. I knew there would be lots of body builders, and interesting things going on in the expo hall. Then there was the anticipation of the dancing competitions and shows. The best part of the weekend, for me, was the Saturday afternoon excitement of Arnold Schwarzneggar entering the dancesport ballroom, addressing the audience and then watching the dancesport showcases. Showcase number one was Nick Scott and Aubree Marchione dancing the cha cha. They had performed it the night before at the social attended by close to 300 dancers of all ages. When they performed it at the social, everyone stood up to watch! On Saturday, they didn't get the audience on their feet, but the audience made enough noise that Aubree couldn't hear the music.

I was so pleased and proud that they were able to make such a great impression. Their dance generated a lot of interest and I enjoyed talking with so many dancers, judges and dance vendors who were sincerely interested in helping to move this activity forward so that more people can become involved and impressed. Tomorrow is the day for the first issue of a proper Wheelchair Dancing newsletter. I imagine it will be the very first one ever. I am excited and I hope that wheelchair dancers will be sharing their stories and pictures with everyone who reads this newsletter, Rolling Along...
