In response to the legislated environmental directive being instituted throughout the world, Vision Plastics has established a comprehensive program that identifies compliance with the new laws. At this time, the key environmental directives are from the European Community, with many countries or states either following these directives explicitly or instituting their own variations. The most noticeable directive is the RoHS (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances). The RoHS legislation restricts the use of certain hazardous substances to levels of less than 100-1000 ppm in electronic products. The RoHS and equivalent directive prohibit use of the following substances in products placed into the market Effective July 1, 2006.
- Lead
- Mercury
- Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)
- Hexavalent Chromium
- Cadmium
- Polybrominated Diphenylethers (PBDE)
Vision Plastics has received requests from many customers to provide compliancy information to these environmental regulations. In order to serve our customers, we research and identify 100% of our products to the RoHS directive.
When requested, we will work in conjunction with our customers and suppliers to qualify components and materials to meet regulatory standards.
