Variable Frequency Drives

Water application rate is directly related to quality. Being able to irrigate various sections or blocks at an always constant and even flow and pressure regardless of elevation differentials is essential to production when one considers soil condition variances that sometimes exist over a short distance. A system must be able to provide water for all the flow demand up to the capacity of the pump.

The Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) is technologies answer to solving age-old pressure and flow variation problems with reliability and ease. Hydraulic shock (Water Hammer) and broken pipe is eliminated due to “soft starts”. Unlike “fixed speed” pumps where operating costs are always equal to the pump operating at full speed and horse power, VFD systems can operate at substantially less cost due to their low energy consumption when producing a small amount of water at constant pressure. VFD systems can use your existing motors and “special” pump motors are not required. Many VFD systems pump directly from a well into an irrigation system. Our VFD Irrigation Management System also comes equipped with both pressure and flow rate meters providing operating personnel with centralized “real time” flow and pressure data.
